TAMARA SAVAGE CLAY | ORIGINAL ART
I have lived primarily in beautiful, coastal Maine – aside from a couple of brief times in Miami, Florida and Asheville, NC – since the late 1990’s when I relocated from Ohio to finish my studies in studio Art and Art History. While finishing my degree, I took a part time job as an apparel stylist in a photo studio in Portland and continued on to have a vibrant and thriving career for the next two plus decades in the commercial photography industry, as both a Stylist and an Art Director. And I happily continue this work now.
I always continued painted in some form or media over the years – oils, encaustics, watercolors and acrylics. My current media of choice is acrylics and watercolors and I primarily focus on landscapes and floral still-lifes. I bring a wealth of creative experiences and inspiration to my artwork – from my education, my career in developing commercial imagery, even designing apparel, and a genuine love of visual communication and the natural world.
As a girl originally from Ohio and in love with the ever-changing Maine coast, ocean and skies, I can often be heard exclaiming to my two children, while motioning toward the water, “Look where you live!” Anything I create is intended to come from that place of awe, love and connectedness – and the hope is always that it brings a sense of joy, peace, curiosity and reminiscence to the viewer.
